Self-defense Skills for Concealed Carry

Concealed Carry Skills

Let’s face it – the State of Texas only requires that you demonstrate an absolute minimum level of competency with a firearm in order to qualify for your License To Carry. Even outstanding instructors don’t have the time to teach you any advanced skills you might need in a real life defensive situation in the time they are allowed in teaching an LTC class.

I have 10 years experience teaching the Texas LTC class and I can’t either – not in the 4 or 5 hours we are allowed for the LTC class along with everything else we are required to teach. But our Concealed Carry Lesson can start that process. You need to know how to:

  • Shoot your pistol using the proper fundamentals (stance, grip, etc.)
  • Draw your pistol from concealment
  • Shoot with one hand – either of them
  • Get back in the fight if your pistol malfunctions
  • Reload an empty pistol

Our Concealed Carry Lesson is not designed to be a comprehensive, week long class that covers these subjects and many more. Instead, it is designed to help you take that next, all-important step towards practical proficiency with your carry pistol.

This is designed as a small, to-the-point lesson. We can handle up to 4 people in a group. We frequently work with individuals and couples are welcome. My wife, who is also an NRA Instructor and experienced shooter, can assist if the situation calls for it. The lesson requires from 3 to 4 hours and the student should expect to shoot approximately 200 rounds. As with most of our lessons, times are scheduled by appointment and are held at American Shooting Centers in West Houston. Cost is $225 per student.

Cherie and I have been instructors at American Shooting Centers for almost 10 years now and have helped over 1600 people qualify for their license. Let us help you add skills and knowledge that might save your life.
